    Egyptian Melodies
Tomb Interior with Pot Background Painting (Walt Disney, 1931)
This Wilfred Jackson-directed black and white
    Silly Symphony
short was released on 8/21/31. It featured some very advanced animation for the times. The animation team included Albert Hunter, David Hand, and Ben Sharpsteen. This story follows a spider who walks into the Sphinx tomb. You can see this background around the 5:05 mark for the first time. The pot is below the wall, where the hieroglyphics begin to animate between the two banners. This is a gouache on 2-peghole hand-painted production background animation board measuring 9.5" x 12". The name "Chuck" is written on the piece, which is marked Sc 25- 27 SS21. The painting looks to have been started on the back, crossed out, and moved to the other side. Extremely rare production art from this time-period of Walt Disney Studios. Minor handling wear, Very Good condition.
